The Caretakers' Council has one goal: nurse terminally ill Arelyn Halbern back to health. But Arelyn is resigned to her fate, knowing she is merely an extra in a novel who is meant to die young. Then Crown Prince Pession Allermand takes an interest in her and begins visiting daily, urging her to eat, play, and become more active. With the novel's male lead lending her his strength, can Arelyn finally find the will to fight her illness?
